To re-design their current website. While the print magazine had a strong personality, the website didn’t reflect the same energy. We wanted to create a user experience across desktop and mobile that matches and enhances the brand, helps users to find new and interesting events in their area and encourages them to join and support nearfield.
The magazine was in a flow and the first version of the website was live so we dove into the re-design ready for the next phase of the website. nearfield’s ethos is all about championing regional events and showcasing all the weird, wonderful and down-right awesome events that the South West has to offer. We had some sessions to run through how we we’re going to try and bring this to the good people of the region and how the visual design of the website can start to tie in with the magazine itself. We started getting our ideas into Figma with a design system built alongside, once these were signed off these could make their way over into development. The website is growing and we’re still working on new features now.
A website that takes its rightful place amongst the powerhouse of the nearfield brand. The final website has captured the essence of the brand, bringing together elements of the print magazine to create a consistent user experience both online and offline. Looking for design cues between the magazine and the website meant we could harmonise the image ratios and the approach to copy to maintain the experience. We’ve introduced a simplified navigation system, super charged the search functionality and brought back a classic in the form of a masonry layout for events.
